Gigi Hadid has arrived at the 2024 Met Gala, and once again, her look is pitch perfect. Wearing an off-the-shoulder structured cream gown with a ruffled, floral-adorned skirt by Thom Browne, Hadid’s look encapsulates the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” theme.
Her manicure, a 3D floral design, was created by her frequent collaborator, Mei Kawajiri. “The hand sculpted 3D yellow flowers add a playful touch to a classic style,” says Kawajiri. “This mix of playful and classic is just like Gigi. We wanted the nail looks to be a continuation of her Met Gala look designed by Thom Browne.”
To create the look, Kawajiri turned to Nailboo products. She started with a thin layer of the brand’s base coat, and then cured for 45 seconds. “I like to paint a single very thin coat of nude gel to keep the French manicure a bit more fresh and sheer,” says the artist, who used the shade Nail-Flex & Chill. She then used a liner brush to carefully paint a rounded French tip, using the shade Here’s a Tip, and then cured before adding a second coat over the tip. She finished off with a layer of the brand’s No-Wipe Top Coat. “A no-wipe top coat is essential… it is one less step when you are backstage or on-set!”
Hadid smartly kept the rest of her glam more classic, as not to compete with her dramatic gown and mani. A bold red lip and strong blush moment were the focus of her makeup look, created by Carolina Gonzalez using Maybelline New York. The classic red shade was courtesy of the Super Stay Vinyl Ink ($12) in shades Red-Hot and Wicked. A curled bob with a deep side part bring the look together added a touch of classic glamour. Nailed it, Gigi.
